Hong Kiat started our humble beginnings in 1983 as an engineering firm. In 1989, the construction arm was born. During those early days, the projects centered around building good class bungalows (GCBs), some of which were for prominent business figures & foreign ministries. A notable milestone was achieved then when one of our projects was featured & written in the book “25 Tropical Houses in Singapore & Malaysia”. It was featured in Tokyo as well.
It was these “GCB - budding years” that lay the foundation of Hong Kiat & honed our project management & construction skills to a refined level.
The first breakthrough came in 2001. After completing the Malaysian Official Residence in Singapore for the Malaysian government, Hong Kiat was engaged to rebuild their Chancery, 6 blocks of residential complexes & clubhouse on a sprawling 700,000 sq ft ground in the Jervois area.
The SGD $35,000,000.00 project was completed in a breakneck speed of 14 months, earning accolades from even the authorities across the causeway. In the then Head-of-JKR words, “if only all builders can be like Hong Kiat”.
Hong Kiat has not looked back ever since.
